Dr. Carmina Jorquera has over 15 years of experience working in the mining industry with a specialisation in geochemistry applied to mineral exploration and environmental studies. She graduated with maximum distinction from Universidad de Chile with a BSc and a MSc in Geology and from Imperial College London, UK, with a PhD in Environmental Geochemistry.

Carmina’s roles include geologist, geoscientist and mainly geochemist, and her experience has been mainly exploring for base and precious metals in various mineral systems, such as epithermal, porphyry, sedimented hosted, Carlin-type, and greenstone-Au deposits, cultivating a strong background in research applied to exploration targeting using surface geochemistry, hydrogeochemistry, lithogeochemistry, mineral chemistry, and indicator minerals.

Carmina started her professional career working briefly in AMSA, Codelco and QPX, and then mainly in Anglo American, Barrick and Teck. Through her career she had the opportunity to work and visit Chile, UK, Perú, Argentina, Turkey, Canada and the USA and with her role recently extended globally she is looking forward to getting more experience from different mineral deposit types, geological settings and especially diverse cultures and cuisine.
